Newsletter (December 20, 2012)

Dear all, We have been following a student to a nearby township on Saturdays to do some evangelistic work. He rented a ‘cinema’ and with another Christian showed the people part of the Jesus film in Bemba. There were 50–70 people in each session and many of them were children. Surprisingly they were very attentive. As usual they would ask the guest to say something so Timothy told them some animal stories taken from the Jungle Doctor series. They love to listen to these stories. Story-telling is a very good way to reach out to people in this part of the world. Most of the people do not speak much English but we find it good and encouraging to be able to participate in such gatherings.

The church also had two more gospel meetings held at members’ homes. The last one was well attended and we did have chances to share our faith with some friends who attended. A number of them were Catholics. These meetings are good opportunities to make contact with the community and it would be good if we could have some follow-up meetings and build up relationships with the people who have come.

The first module of the MTh programme in partnership with SATS (South African Theological Seminary) was held last week and 16 students, most of them TCCA graduates, attended. The lecturer came up from South Africa and we got along very well with him and had very good sharing together.

We are wrapping up our work with TCCA. Zara will still be busy until the second week of January when the new term begins. By then we should know how many new students are coming to study. The college will be closed for Christmas and New Year and there are still cases of applications needed to be processed. Meanwhile we are taking a short holiday in Namibia and we will be back on New Year’s Eve.

We wish all of you a joyous Christmas and a blessed New Year and looking forward to seeing all of you very soon. With Christian love.
